A few months ago, we went to Pure Hockey in Exton, Pa. to get me new skates. Walking into the store was exciting because there were rows and rows of hockey gear everywhere—sticks, helmets, gloves, jerseys, and so many different kinds of skates. I felt like I could have stayed there all day just looking around.
I went straight to the skate section and tried on three different pairs. Each one felt a little different, but the Bauer Fly30s were definitely the best. They had more support than the others and the insoles felt better on my feet.
Once I picked the Bauers, the staff put them in a special oven to bake them. After they were heated up, I had to sit down while they laced them onto my feet and let them cool. It was a little funny just sitting there waiting, but I knew it would help the skates mold perfectly to my feet.

The first time I skated in them, my feet hurt, and they honestly didn’t feel too different from my old skates. But after a few months of practices and games, my feet got used to them, and now they fit really well and don’t hurt anymore. My favorite thing about the Bauer Fly30s is how snug they feel and how much support they give me on the ice.
Shopping at Pure Hockey was fun too, because I got to see all the other hockey gear while we were there. I even checked out some sticks and jerseys while we were waiting for my skates to bake.
If you ever go shopping for new skates, my advice is to try on a few pairs to see what feels best for your feet, and always get them baked. It makes a huge difference once you hit the ice.
