My First Real Hockey Game

On the day of my first real hockey game, I was really nervous. But before the game, we had a “Skate with Santa,” and even though it was kind of scary, it was also a lot of fun. It helped me feel a little more ready for the game ahead. I also got a brand new jersey to wear and white hockey socks, though I wasn’t allowed to wear my purple ones! Still, it felt so cool to be in my team gear.

When I got to the rink, Coach Terry introduced me to my team and the coaches. Meeting everyone made me feel a lot less nervous. I knew I was part of the team now, and that made me feel better, even though I had no idea what I was doing at first!
My First Real Hockey Game: A Nerve-Wracking But Exciting Experience

The game started, and honestly, I wasn’t sure where to go or what to do. I was super nervous about making mistakes. But one of my teammates helped me out, and the coaches were really supportive. By the time the third period came around, I felt a lot more confident. I didn’t do anything amazing, but I was able to get to the puck and pass it to my teammates. I played defense, and even though I wasn’t the star of the game, I was still helping out.

Here is a slideshow of some pictures my parents took.

We won 5-2! After the game, we did a head tap for our goalie, which was awesome, and then the teams lined up to shake hands. It felt really good to be part of the team, and I was proud of how we played together.

One thing I learned from this game is that I need to work on my puck handling. I’m excited to practice it at home and during practices after the New Year. I can’t wait for the next chance I get to play again!
