I was super excited for the Hershey Bears season opener against the Cleveland Monsters! The night started with a special “Red Carpet” event where we saw the players arrive. I was happy and excited about the Red Carpet and hoped we could get there early. The atmosphere was electric, and everyone was buzzing with anticipation to start the season.
We arrived a little late, but I was still able to get a selfie with Logan Day! He remembered me, and I was thrilled. Meeting the players was fun, but I was really eager to watch the game. I also got a video of Nicky Leiverman saying happy birthday to one of my friends, which was super cool!
Before the game started, the Bears raised the Calder Cup banner, which was an awesome sight. I learned that my friend Kyle Harris got a promotion and is now in charge of equipment! There were 10,588 fans in attendance, and the energy was high. Ethan Frank had an incredible night, scoring a hat trick! Fans threw their hats onto the ice, making for a fun moment.
The Bears started slow but picked up the pace and ended up winning 7-3! I was so happy they won. After the game, I tried to get one of the three-star sticks, but I didn’t get one this time.
During the season opener, I had a special moment when I met Pierick Dube’s mom. She noticed my Lapierre junior jersey from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and mentioned that her son played for the same team. I was thrilled to connect with her over our shared hockey passion and asked if I could get a selfie. She was really nice and said yes! It was so cool to meet someone so connected to the players I admire, making the night even more memorable.
Game 2 vs The Cleveland Monsters
The following night, we went to the second game of the season. Unfortunately, the Bears didn’t play as well. Ivan Miroshnichenko scored a hat trick, but they lost 6-3, and again, fans threw their hats onto the ice.
We stayed for the jersey auction, but the jerseys were very expensive. Some even went for $5,000! The money goes to charity, which is great. The jerseys were special “Back to Back” champions one. We left after a few jerseys were auctioned off, but when we got home, I saw they had a Lapierre jersey up for auction, even though he plays for the Capitals now. It sold for $2,500!
Even though the auction was a bit pricey, it was fun to watch for a little while. I’m looking forward to next weekend’s “Trick or Treat” night game, where I’ll be going as Hendrix Lapierre! I plan to wear his Capitals jersey along with my hockey equipment. I can’t wait to go trick-or-treating around the concourse and hang out with my friend Vicky. We’ll definitely grab some Hershey chocolate bars, and of course, we’ll get a photo with Coco the Bear!
What an exciting start to the season! Go Bears!
